Laser Surgery

Laser surgery refers to any number of medical procedures in which lasers are to repair, alter, or remove varying tissues of the body. These procedures can include repairing blood vessels, destroying tumors, and any number of cosmetic surgeries. Depending on the specific procedure, any number of differing lasers can be used.

Eye surgery is commonly done with lasers. Eye problems such as myopia and astigmatism are often corrected using a laser surgery procedure called Lasik. This type of surgery is a very popular way to eliminate the need for glasses or contact lenses.

Cosmetic procedures are one of the more common uses of laser surgery. Dermatologists and cosmetic surgeons employ lasers for everything from removing wrinkles to reconstructive surgery. There are a host of advantages to using lasers for this type of surgery, not the least of which is a much faster healing period for the patient.
